Il mondo di Lisa/ Lisa's world

   Oggi vorrei condividere una piccola storia d'amore.
Cosa c'entra con i gioielli , direte voi, si, è vero , ma ci sono dei gioiellini viventi e quindi ....siamo sempre in tema.

E poi comunque a questa storia mi  sono ispirata per realizzare queste due collane con i colori  iridiscenti lilla/verdi come le piume che i  piccioni hanno sul collo, tanto per rimanere in tema...aviario.

Ne ho realizzate due versioni:

   Per la prima versione ho ritagliato un cuore in una lastra di rame che ho successivamente inciso con dei disegni a forma di piume di pavone e patinato con colori in tema.

 Per questa versione "pret-a-porter" ho aggiunto perline di cristallo per lo più vintage e piccole perline in verde pistacchio chiaro fatte a mano in Indonesia (Happy Mango Beads).

   Per la seconda versione ho realizzato un cuore di rame con la stessa tecnica abbinato però a pietre dure:

rondelle di ametista in diversa intensità di colore, cianite verde nella caratteristica forma a bastoncini, apatite a taglio irregolare e perline in cristallo-

Lisa è un'amica che condivide con me la passione dei cavalli, in particolare dei cavalli iberici e che conosco da tantissimi anni perchè i suoi cavalli sono così belli e la sua passione è così simile alla mia e  profonda che ovviamente ogni volta che ci incontriamo per me è una vera festa condividere le stesse emozioni.

Ma adesso alla famiglia dei cavalli si è aggiunto un altro vero gioiello : Glu-Glu, che è un motivo in più per fare un saltino da Lisa e ritrovarmi all'improvviso in un mondo speciale.

 Si perchè il mondo di Lisa è davvero unico.

Una volta aperto il cancello di quella che un tempo era la portineria del castello di Carimate ci si trova in un mondo fatato. Alberi secolari, prati verdi per pascolare sereni , la piccola casetta di Lisa che sembra una casa di bambola, le scuderie e uno stupendo maneggio coperto.

Tutti vivono sereni nel mondo di Lisa perchè i criteri dell'esistenza che regolano usualmente il mondo esterno sono completamente sovvertiti. Le attenzioni e le cure  maggiori sono sempre dedicate a chi ha sofferto, a chi è stato maltrattato, a chi è malato o debole , agli anziani e ogni animale riceve in base non a quanto rende , ma in base alle sue necessità. Ed è proprio con questa filosofia che Lisa si è dedicata a una piccioncina che un giorno ha trovato davanti a casa sua con un'ala spezzata. Nonostante i pronostici infausti dei veterinari , Lisa è riuscita a curare la piccola personcina alata alla quale ha dato il nome di Glu-Glu da quel rumore un po gutturale che spesso fanno i piccioni.

Glu-Glu non riesce a volare se non per piccoli tratti perchè l'ala malata non riesce a funzionare bene, ma si è adattata alla sua gabbietta che viene aperta quando Lisa è in casa, e così giorno dopo giorno tra Lisa e la piccioncina si è creato un legame davvero speciale.
 Nel video che ho fatto si può vedere che Glu-glu dà dei bacetti molto delicati con il becco (ho provato a farmeli dare anch'io e posso garantire che è delicatissima) e le piace essere strofinata sulla schiena.

Come sono meravigliosi gli animali soprattutto quando stabiliamo un vero contatto con loro !

   Today I would like to share a little love story. You will say: "you are not speaking about jewels!", yes it is true, but here there are small living jewels, so that we are not off the point.

And anyway this story inspired me these two necklaces in which I tried to reproduce that iridiscent colours of pigeons feathers.

I did two versions : in both I have prepared a copper heart etched with peacock feathers pattern that I have patinated in colours resembling iridiscent lilac/green feathers.

In the first version I have added glass vintage beads, and in the secon one I have added gemstones: amethyst rondelles in different depth of lilac, green cyanite sticks , apatite irregular beads.

And now here my little story:

Lisa is a friend of mine  who shares with me horses passion, and in particular iberian horses.

 I know her for many years, because her horses are so beautiful and her passion is so deep and similar to that of mine, that when I meet her I am very excited to share our feelings and emotions about horses and animals.  And now to horses family I have another reason to go to Lisa world: Glu Glu, a little pigeon .

Lisa's world is a very special one. When you open the gate of the ancient  Carimate Castle park you find yourself in an enchanted place. Big and secular  trees, green paddock for horses to graze quietly, the little house of Lisa which is really similar to a doll house, the stables and a wonderful covered riding -ground.

People and animals,  everybody ,live in happiness and peace because Lisa way of life is quite the opposite of usual life: the greatest care and attentions are dedicated to whom have suffered or are ill, to whom has been abused, or are  aged and frail and every animal ( horses , dogs etc) receives help not for what can produce, but for what it needs. And just with this phylosophy Lisa dedicated herself to a little pigeon one day she found with a broken wing near her house. In spite of bad vet prognosis Lisa was able to cure this little pigeon whose name is Glu-Glu from that guttural  note typical of pigeons. Glu-Glu can fly only for little distance cause  the broken wing but she can walk and jump so that when Lisa is at home she opens the cage and Glu-Glu can go around the home and between Glu-Glu and Lisa has developed a very unique friendship. I have done this video where you can see the special little kisses Glu Glu gives Lisa and how she likes to be massaged on the back.

How wonderful can be animals when we deeply can get in touch with them!

Una giornata Preziosa- A precious day

   Ieri io e Tina, abbiamo sfidato gli elementi naturali ,vista la pioggia incessante e siamo andate in missione alla mostra di minerali "Preziosa" di Novegro che si svolge una volta all'anno e alla quale non potevamo ovviamente rinunciare!
Dopo l'inevitabile giretto per gustare i bellissimi minerali esposti e un passaggio obbligato per rifornimento pietre dal nostro Anil  di Meena Gems ci siamo rilassate guardando le creazioni esposte e la parte della mostra riguardante l'antiquariato.

Yesterday I and Tina, facing the awful heavy raining day, we have gone for a new mission to Novegro Mineral show "Preziosa" which is organized once a year and that we could not help to visit!
After a look to wonderful natural minerals and crystals and a fixed course to meet our indian friend Anil of meena Gems for a gemstones supplying, we relaxed ourselves looking at the jewels showed and visiting the antique trade show.

   Le creazioni che più ci hanno affascinato sono stati gli stupendi gioielli di Marilisa Parodi realizzati a mano con macramè , gemme e cristalli . Abbiamo conosciuto personalmente Marilisa ed è stato un vero piacere perchè abbiamo scoperto una persona gentilissima , appassionata, disponibilissima.

   Passeggiando tra gli stand abbiamo anche fatto amicizia con Pachà un simpaticissimo Jack Russel Terrier che con aria molto professionale ci ha intrattenuto mentre il suo padrone molto gentile parlava con un cliente.

Cavallucci marini / Sea-horse

 

   Avendo una grande passione per i cavalli , non è strano che ami in modo particolare anche i cavallucci marini e così ho pensato di riprodurli in rame per poterli portare sempre con me.

  Ho sovrapposto il cavalluccio, che ho ritagliato nel rame e texturizzato, ad un disco di rame sbalzato e colorato con i colori del mare in modo che potesse nuotare felice nel suo habitat. 

  Ho aggiunto gocce irregolari  e rondelle di acqua marina, rondelline in lapislazzuli, rondelle in apatite "caribbean blue" (uno stupendo colore che ricorda le profondità del mare), chips di apatite.
Una bella perla di vetro a forma di conchiglia non poteva mancare.

   Ho poi fatto una variante di cavalluccio marino più grande, molto semplice, aggiungendo uno swarowski blu come occhio e ho decorato l'anello per appendere il ciondolo con labradorite e acqua marina.

A questo punto però mi è venuta la curiosità di conoscere meglio questi esserini piccoli, ma meravigliosi che siamo purtroppo talmente  abituati a vedere solo come ciondoli o imbalsamati, da dimenticare che in realtà sono esseri viventi misteriori e incredibili, non facili da studiare perchè sono molto discreti e riservati.

  I cavallucci marini sono molto particolari: non hanno squame come i pesci, ma una serie di anelli ossei ricoperti da pelle. Nuotano in piedi, hanno un collo flessibile e ben definito, cosa molto poco usuale nel mondo dei pesci. Nuotano molto poco muovendo rapidamente una pinna dorsale e usando due  pinnette pettorali situate dietro gli occhi per sterzare. Sono tra le creature più lente al mondo impiegando anche un ora per percorrere  un metro e mezzo. Essendo dei nuotatori un po scarsi per lo più passano il loro tempo a riposarsi sulla loro coda prensile avvolta intorno a qualche oggetto o alle barriere coralline.

Ma la cosa più stupefacente che ho scoperto è che hanno un sistema di riproduzione molto speciale e molto interessante....

Infatti la femmina durante le elaborate danze del corteggiamento depone le uova in una tasca situata anteriormente sulla pancia del maschio che le feconda e le cova per tutto il tempo della gestazione. Durante il periodo della gravidanza  la madre tutte le mattina va a fare un salutino al marito per far capire che apprezza lo sforzo ...e dopo se ne va a passeggio. Il maschio si fa carico anche del parto! Alcuni ritengono che i cavallucci marini siano monogami anche se i pareri su questo punto non sono del tutto concordi.

Considering my great passion for horses. it is not strange that I love a lot sea-horses too, so that I have thought to create them with copper just to be able to "wear" them and be happy in their company.

 I have cut a copper sheet in a sea-horse shape and texturized them to simulate the rough skin of real seahorses, and I have overlapped it to an embossed and patinated copper disk decorated with marine themes and sea colours just to give to my seahorse the right "house". I have added nice irregular acquamarine drops,little rondelles in aquamarine , lapislazuli and caribbean blue apatite (a wonderful apatite variant in the colour of deep sea). Apatite chips and a nice shell shaped beads. Irregular turquoises and round teal pavè beads.

   I have also created a variant cutting a bigger seahorse, very simple, adding a Swarowski bead as an eye and I have decorated the bail with labradorite and aquamarine.

   But at this point I was curious to know something more about these  living creatures, very small, but so wonderful and unique, that we are used to see in static way as charms or...stuffed..., so that we forget that they are living enchanting and mysterious being.

A questo punto però mi è venuta la curiosità di conoscere meglio questi esserini piccoli, ma meravigliosi che siamo purtroppo talmente  abituati a vedere solo come ciondoli o imbalsamati, da dimenticare che in realtà sono esseri viventi misteriori e incredibili, non facili da studiare perchè sono molto discreti e riservati.
 Seahorses range in size from 1.5 to 35.5 cm (0.6 to 14.0 in).^[4] They are named for their equine appearance. Although they are bony fish, they do not have scales, but rather thin skin stretched over a series of bony plates, which are arranged in rings throughout their bodies. Each species has a distinct number of rings. Seahorses swim upright.
 Seahorses swim very poorly, rapidly fluttering a dorsal fin and using pectoral fins (located behind their eyes) to steer. The slowest-moving fish in the world is H. zosterae (the dwarf seahorse), with a top speed of about 5 ft (1.5 m) per hour.^[5] Seahorses have no caudal fin. Since they are poor swimmers, they are most likely to be found resting with their prehensile tails wound around a stationary object. They have long snouts, which they use to suck up food, and their eyes can move independently of each other (like those of a chameleon).The male seahorse is equipped with a pouch on the ventral, or front-facing, side of the tail. When mating, the female seahorse deposits up to 1,500 eggs in the male's pouch. The male carries the eggs for 9 to 45 days until the seahorses emerge fully developed, but very small. Once the young are released into the water, the male's role is done and he offers no further care and often mates again within hours or days during the breeding season.^[9]

Before breeding, seahorses may court for several days. Scientists believe the courtship behavior synchronizes the animals' movements and reproductive states so the male can receive the eggs when the female is ready to deposit them. During this time, they may change color, swim side by side holding tails or grip the same strand of sea grass with their tails, and wheel around in unison in what is known as a "predawn dance". They eventually engage in a "true courtship dance" lasting about 8 h, during which the male pumps water through the egg pouch on his trunk which expands and opens to display its emptiness. When the female’s eggs reach maturity, she and her mate let go of any anchors and drift upward snout-to-snout, out of the seagrass, often spiraling as they rise. The female inserts her ovipositor into the male’s brood pouch and deposits dozens to thousands of eggs. As the female releases her eggs, her body slims while his swells. Both animals then sink back into the seagrass and she swims away.

SIGNIFICATO SIMBOLICO

    Il significato simbolico del cavalluccio marino è piuttosto complesso proprio quanto lo è questa piccola creatura piena di sorprese.
La peculiarità di questo essere vivente ha fatto si che gli antichi greci, gli alchimisti europei e le popolazioni asiatiche lo considerino dotato di significato mistico.
Gli antichi greci e i romani ritenevano che i cavallucci marini fossero una emanazione del dio dei mari Nettuno/Poseidone e in quanto tali li consideravano un simbolo di forza e potere.
Gli antichi europei ritenevano che i cavallucci marini trasportassero le anime dei marinai deceduti nel mare fornendo  protezione per un viaggio sicuro della loro anima alla propria destinazione.
Le culture cinesi ritenevano che fossero una sorta di drago e in quanto tale simbolo di potere e di buona fortuna.
I significati simbolici sono:
la pazienza
la protezione
la lungimiranza
l'inflessibiità
la persistenza,
l'amicizia
l'accontentarsi
la sensibilità
la generosità

Una creatura tranquilla e di buone maniere, il cavalluccio marino sembra essere contento di vagabondare nel mare. La loro struttura corporea non è fatta per la velocità e pertanto simboleggiano la pazienza e la virtù di accontentarsi: sono felici di essere dove sono e non sgomitano per fare carriera. La riprova di questo è che la loro struttura corporea non ha subito evoluzione. Contenti di essere dove sono e non avvertendo la necessità di cambiamenti- ci regalano un profondo insegnamento. A causa della sua resistenza ai cambiamenti, può essere anche un simbolo di inflessibilità e testardaggine. In acque turbulente utilizza la coda per ancorarsi all'oggetto più vicino. Questo ci insegna a conseguire con perseveranza i nostri obiettivi, senza essere troppo inflessibili o testardi nel perseguirli.

Seahorse Meaning and Symbolism

Un maschio in dolce attesa!

The symbolic meaning of seahorse is quite intricate and diverse as this little creature itself is full of surprises.

The seahorse is quite a unique creature, and thought to have mystical significance among the Ancient Greeks, European (alchemists) and Asians.

The Ancient Greeks and Romans believed the seahorse was an attribute of the sea god Neptune/Poseidon and as such, the seahorse was considered a symbol of strength and power.

Further, the ancient Eurpeans believed that the seahorse carried the souls of deceased sailors to the underworld - giving them safe passage and protection until the met their soul's destination.

Chinese cultures believed that the seahorse was a type of sea dragon, and as such they were revered for their power and thought to be symbols of good luck.

Sailors have long viewed the seahorse as a good luck charm too.

Symbolic meaning of Seahorses carry the following significances...

• Patience
• Protection
• Perspective
• Inflexibility
• Persistence
• Friendliness
• Contentment
• High-Perception
• Generosity/Sharing

A relatively calm, and mild-mannered creature, the seahorse is seemingly content to roam the seas. Their bodies are geared for ambling-type motion - not for speed. Thus, they are symbolic of patience and contentment - they are happy with being where they are, and are in no hurry for advancement.

Further testimony to these attributes is the lack of evolution of the seahorse's body style. They have remained with this body style without change since their inception. Content to be who they are, and not feeling the need to change - these are a few profound lessons the seahorse provides us.

However, along with a resistence to change, and a carefree approach to progress, the seahorse can be a symbol of inflexibilty or stubborness. To wit, the seahorse wraps its tail around the nearest object in order to anchor itself in turbulent waters. This is a lesson to be persistent in our goals, but be mindful that we are not too inflexible or stubborn in our achieving them.

Ebano

   

Recentemente ho visto nel negozio di Ruth (https://www.etsy.com/it/shop/ColorSquare?page=) delle speciali grosse perle di ebano fatte a mano che hanno immediatamente fatto drizzare le mie orecchie. 

   Ebano.... mi sono detta, nome fatato che spesso ricorre nelle fiabe, ma più precisamente dove l'ho letto? E così mi è venuto in mente che nelle fiabe quando si vuole sottolineare qualcosa di nero e prezioso non c'è che l'ebano. 

    La famosa fiaba dei fratelli  Grimm Biancaneve comincia proprio così: "C'era una volta, nel pieno dell'inverno, quando soffici fiocchi di neve cadevano come piume dal cielo, una regina che cuciva seduta presso una finestra dalla cornice nera di legno d'ebano. Mentre cuciva, guardava la neve e si punse un dito con l'ago; così, tre gocce di sangue caddero sulla neve, e, il rosso sul bianco risultò così bello ch'ella pensò: 'Ah, se solo avessi una bambina bianca come la neve, rossa come il sangue, e bruna come l'ebano di questa finestra!' 

  E cosa di più magico dell'ebano che dall'inizio dei tempi è stato sempre utilizzato per lavori molto particolari: L'ebano nero è molto apprezzato in ebanisteria tanto da aver "decretato" il nome di quest'arte. In falegnameria viene impiegato per la fabbricazione di mobili, stipetteria, impiallacciature e manici di coltello.In  liuteria è molto usato l'ebano di colore nero per la costruzione di legni (oboi, flauti, soprattutto quelli risalenti al periodo barocco, clarinetti), tasti per pianoforte, tastiere di strumenti cordofoni come chitarra e violino.

   E allora ho iniziato a meditare su come utilizzare queste preziose palline di ebano e l'ispirazione è arrivata proprio dalla favola di Biancaneve: all'ebano ho aggiunto il bianco bagliore della pietra di luna e bianche rondelle fatte a mano in Indonesia in pasta di vetro (http://www.happymangobeads.com) ; per il colore rosso ho scelto rondelle piccole di rubino naturale rondelle più grandi in cristallo, e bellissime perle di vetro allungate antiche (trade beads acquistate da Ruth) ,onice nero, due preziose perline d'argento di Bali e delle meravigliose perle in metallo argentato e dorato provenienti dalla Turchia. La grossa goccia centrale è in corniola , una delle pietre più antiche impiegate nei gioielli tribali.
   Per bilanciare la liscia "rotondità" delle palline di ebano ho aggiunto tre pezzi irregolari di ambra del Baltico naturale color miele che non potevo trovare che dalla cara amica e collezionista di pietre preziose Johanne del negozio Etsy Bellabeadsandgems https://www.etsy.com/it/shop/BellaBeadsandGems.
   Per un tocco un po magico rari cristalli a due punte trasparenti con inclusioni grigie ( Sichuan quartz).
   E così sono soddisfatta e felice della mia collana....da favola!

   Recently I have discovered in Ruth Lawson shop ( https://www.etsy.com/it/shop/ColorSquare?page=) some unique handmade irregular old big ebony beads , that immediately called my attention (I'd better say..I pricked my ears!). 

    Ebony ..I told myself, a magic word that I had often heard in fairy tales, but exactly where did I read about it? And thinking and thinking  I have remembered that when in fairy tales something is described as "black and precious" there is only ...ebony.

The famous Grimms tale SnowWhite begins this way:

   "A queen sits sewing at an open window during a winter snowfall, when she pricks her finger with her needle, causing three drops of red blood to drip onto the freshly fallen white snow on the black windowsill. Admiring the beauty of the resulting color combination, she says to herself, "Oh how I wish that I had a daughter that had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony." Soon after that, the Queen gives birth to a baby girl who is as white as snow, with lips as red as blood and has hair as black as ebony. They name her 'Snow White,' but sadly, the Queen dies after giving birth to her.^["1][4]

   Ebony has a long history of use, with carved pieces having been found in Ancient Egyptian tombs. By the end of the 16th century, fine cabinets for the luxury trade were made of ebony in Antwerp. The wood's dense hardness lent itself to refined moldings framing finely detailed pictorial panels with carving in very low relief (bas-relief), usually of allegorical subjects, or with scenes taken from classical or Christian history. Within a short time, such cabinets were also being made in Paris, where their makers became known as ébénistes, which remains the French term for a cabinetmaker.

Modern uses are largely restricted to small items, such as crucifixes, and musical instrument parts, including black piano and harpsichord keys, violin, viola, guitar, double bass, and cello fingerboards, tailpieces, pegs, chinrests, and bow frogs. Many plectrums, or guitar picks, are made from this black wood. Traditionally, the black pieces in chess sets were made from ebony, with rare boxwood or ivory being used for the white pieces. Modern East Midlands-style lace-making bobbins, also being small, are often made of ebony and look particularly decorative when bound with brass or silver wire. Due to its strength, many handgun grips and rifle fore-end tips are made of ebony, as are the butts of pool cues.

As a result of unsustainable harvesting, many species yielding ebony are now considered threatened. Africa in particular has had most of its indigenous ebony cut down illegally, and for this reason it has become common for street traders to blacken lighter woods with shoe polish in an effort to make a sale.

 

   Then I began to meditate how I could have used these precious ebony beads, and the inspiration is arrived just from WhiteSnow tale: to ebony beads I have added the white sparkling of moonstone gemstone, white handmade indonesian rondelles (Happy mango Beads) , little natural ruby rondelles, red bigger glass beads , elongated red old glass trade beads (by Ruth Colorsquare),  black onyx, raw honey Baltic amber pieces (that I could find only at Bellabeadsgems Etsy shop of the dear friend and special gemstones collector Johanne https://www.etsy.com/it/shop/BellaBeadsandGems) . The big orange drop is by carnelian , one of the oldest gemstones used in tribal jewels.
Two precious silver Bali beads and wonderful Turkman granulated beads. 
And to counterbalance the smooth and roundness of ebony beads I have added some rare and mysterious natural double terminated  Sichuan quartz.
And my fairy necklace is done!
